Repent and believe in the gospel!

"Most people lack true repentance. They lack the true contrition, the true brokenness. They are void of urgent desperation. They don't have a true relationship to Jesus Christ. They just "hang around" Jesus... And they do not know what it means to bow to that which is eternal. To be concerned about that. They want a gospel that doesn't ask for repentance. They want a gospel that has no threats. They want a gospel that allows them to have some superficial attachment to Jesus, but not a bowing to His absolute sovereignty at any cost. They want a gospel that fixes them in this world to make them more comfortable. That's not it. And that's not what Jesus offers."

Reformation Theology On The Rise

It is no surprise to most of you that there is a renewed interest among young people in reformed theology. My last blog poll showed that the majority of Reformed Voices visitors fall into the 20-29 year old age group. It is an exciting time as God is opening up the eyes of lukewarm church goers to a greater understanding of His sovereignty and His amazing grace. Samuel at Always Ready writes about this resurgence, reflecting on his personal experience growing up in typical 'American Christianity' and the influences that has led him to embracing reformed theology. Samuel also points us to an article by Nathan Pitchford at Reformation Theology Blog on the same topic. Check them both out.

Samuel writes,

"In recent days, there has been a resurgence of reformed theology; especially among younger generations who are turned off by the error of the emerging church and the excesses of the mega churches. This has puzzled some and excited others. In an attempt to answer why this is occuring, Nathan Pitchford of the Reformation Theology blog wrote a short piece entitled, “Why Reformed?“, describing what he believes are the major factors contributing to this resurgence."
